Choose to Conserve logoThe Solid Waste Utility operates and maintains the City's solid waste collection system and contracts recycling services with Waste Connections, Inc. Waste Connections, Inc. operates the Regional Transfer Station, Moderate Risk Waste Facility, Compost Facility, and the Blue Mountain Transfer Station under contract with the City of Port Angeles.

"Choose to Conserve" is the theme of the solid waste reduction and recycling program for the North Olympic Peninsula.

The logo was developed in 2004 by the City of Port Angeles Solid Waste Division, with the support of the Clallam County Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

The mountains in the logo convey our beautiful environment, the arrow represents the circular nature of life and the concepts of reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Our goal is to meet and exceed customer expectations.

October 14, 2009 - The City of Port Angeles Solid Waste Division has been recognized as a runner-up in the 2009 Excellence in Biosolids Management Award for their promotion of “Garden Glory Compost”. NATURAL YARD CARE GUIDE
Our yards are our outdoor homes: fun, beautiful, great places for relaxing. But in taking care of them, we often use water inefficiently, produce a lot of yard waste, and overuse chemicals that are bad for the environment and our family's health.

The good news is, by making simple changes in how we care for our yards we can:

Save money on water, waste disposal, and chemicals
Save time - working with nature is easier in the long run
Protect our family's health by reducing contact with chemicals
And - protect the environment.
